PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Castle Bay, through a continuing services contract with the City of Ormond Beach, was tasked with preparing plans and specifications to renovate and refurbish the existing softball fields located at the City’s most highly valued sports complex. Castle Bay’s landscape architects performed a site visit to evaluate and survey current field conditions, existing drainage patterns, irrigation infrastructure, and overall site characteristics.

Castle Bay ultimately prepared a comprehensive plan completely removing all existing turf, regrading all fields, providing proper drainage, and proposed new fencing and backstop, and a new irrigation system with a cloud-based controller. Castle Bay interviewed maintenance personnel and utilized aerial LIDAR imagery and data to identify and confirm drainage conflicts. Castle Bay also provided detailed, customized, site-specific specifications for infield clay and topsoil to ensure proper playability for the athletes and ease of maintenance for City staff.
